New survey research from Reworked and Korbyt on what makes employees tune in, tune out, and trust internal communication.
Workplace communication is not just a volume issue. In Reworked’s 2026 survey, created in partnership with Korbyt and iCology, we found that employees tune out when communication is not actionable, not trusted, or repetitive across channels. The research is based on feedback from 1,175 full-time U.S. employees across organizations with 50+ employees.
Inside the report:
- Clarity over volume: 56% say clear action is what makes them pay attention
- Trust equals relevance: 59% say confidence is influenced by how clear and specific the message is
- Channel discipline matters: 46% tune out when messages feel repetitive across channels
- AI as a filter: 92% agree AI should reduce overload, not increase volume
- The untapped potential of digital signage: 72% see workplace screens as a low-friction channel to stay informed
Effective workplace communication is not about sending more updates. It is about making communication clear, credible, relevant, and easy to act on.
